Highly touted prospect Michael Hage is focused on his season with the University of Michigan as they compete for a national championship.

What happens after his college season wraps, though, is what fans in Montreal are also curious about.

Hage, drafted 21st overall by the Canadiens in the 2024 NHL Draft, is eligible to sign with the Habs after his season. There is a strong belief around the organization that Hage is poised to join the club or its AHL affiliate in Laval for the rest of this season.

In 37 games with Michigan this season, Hage registered 13 goals and 38 assists for 51 points. He also collected two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in seven games with Canada at the World Junior Championships this season.

For now, his focus is helping Michigan, but he and his representatives know the option to join the Canadiens organization is available if he chooses.

Several college players have signed with their NHL franchises this month, including the likes of Cole Eiserman (New York Islanders), Cole Hutson (Washington Capitals), Gustav Stjernberg (Colorado Avalanche), Michael Hrabal (Utah Mammoth) and Dylan Hryckowian (Dallas Stars), among others, while James Hagens signed an ATO with Boston’s AHL affiliate in Providence.
