Arber Xhekaj did not speak to the media during the Montreal Canadiens’ end-of-season review, a silence that stands out.
Especially at a time when his future with the organization is fueling speculation.
Monday was supposed to be the day of major answers in Brossard.
Management and players took turns in front of the microphones to answer questions and close the book on all of the season’s major storylines.
Arber Xhekaj never appeared before reporters, which left one major unresolved issue hanging in the air (the other players did not really have many major storylines left to address).
The timing seemed perfect for him to speak about what lies ahead, but no.
A major unanswered question remains in Brossard involving Arber Xhekaj
Xhekaj is not the only intriguing case, however.
The same goes for Mike Matheson. The alternate captain wearing the “A,” who is also the team’s most heavily used defenseman.
One of last summer’s biggest acquisitions did not provide an update on his first season with the Montreal Canadiens.
It remains to be seen when Xhekaj will break his silence, and what he will have to say about the situation, but it is fairly concerning to see that he was not made available, especially considering that reporters almost certainly requested to speak with him.
