Zachary Bolduc signs four-year extension with Montreal
The Montreal Canadiens have signed one of their outstanding restricted free agents, reaching an agreement on a four-year contract with Zachary Bolduc.
Acquired last summer from the St. Louis Blues in a trade for Logan Mailloux, Bolduc was expected to build upon a strong offensive finish to the 2024-25 season. Despite beginning the season on a three-game scoring streak, that didn’t materialize with just 12 goals and 18 assists in 78 games played after he had scored 13 goals in the final 26 games following the 4 Nations Face-Off the previous year. His 30 points ranked ninth on the team. He did elevate his play toward the end of the season and into the playoffs with seven points that all came in the opening two rounds.
The Canadiens would like to see more of him at his best, and Bolduc himself wants to prove he brings more value than he did last season, and that explains the relatively short term on the contract compared to what has been granted to other young members of the organization. Bolduc finding consistency in his performance and realizing his potential as a top-six winger is one way Montreal can take a step forward this season, and both parties have something to gain should that happen.
Bolduc turned 23 in February and will be 27 when this contract expires. He will be an unrestricted free agent at that time.
