Sabres still talking to Jets about Hellebuyck — The Fourth Period
The Buffalo Sabres and Winnipeg Jets have discussed a trade involving goaltender Connor Hellebuyck and talks picked up going into the NHL Draft, but a trade has not yet been agreed upon.
Multiple sources suggest the two teams continue to have trade negotiations, though it’s unclear if a pathway to a deal can be mapped out.
The two sides had discussed a trade involving the fourth-overall pick, but the Sabres held on to the draft pick and selected defenceman Daxon Rudolph.
The Sabres are believed to be willing to include an assortment of assets that may include some of the likes of goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Jack Quinn, Radim Mrtka, Ryan McLeod and Konsta Helenius.
Winnipeg is looking to strengthen its roster up front if they move out Hellebuyck and GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has been actively trying to add a second-line centre and winger.
Hellebuyck, 33, has five years remaining on his contract and comes with an $8.5 million AAV.
