Nikita Kucherov dive in Game 2 vs Canadiens prompts NHL discipline calls

The dive was so obvious that the video is making the rounds on social media this morning.

And the officials took the bait, sending Guhle to the penalty box for two minutes for hooking.

The replay clearly shows Kucherov going down well before any contact justified such a fall.

Will Kucherov receive a fine?

The NHL’s well-known unwritten code suggests dives should be penalized, but the league is not always consistent when it comes to disciplining its stars.

Fortunately for the Montreal Canadiens, they killed off the penalty but ultimately went on to lose the game.

The series is now tied 1-1, and this type of play has no place in the playoffs.
