New Jersey Devils Announce 2026-27 Rookie Camp Roster – The Hockey Writers – New Jersey Devils

The 25-man roster includes 14 forwards, eight defensemen, and three goaltenders. Nathan Brown, Caelan Joudrey, and Nathan Lecompte also received a camp invite from the Devils.

Rookie camp is always an exciting time because it is the first time some of these players are taking the ice in the Devils colors. Anton Silaev is one such player. The Devils drafted him 10th overall in 2024, but the Russian-born player remained in his home country to play hockey for the last two seasons. This will be the first time he dons the Devils’ red and black, so that will be exciting.

Of note, only two players from the Devils’ 2026 draft class will be attending the rookie camp, Luke Wilfley and Quinn McKenzie. Wifley was drafted in the sixth round, 172nd overall, while McKenzie was drafted in the seventh round, 222nd overall. Although both players were drafted late, they will both look to make a lasting impact in their Devils debut.

Noticeably absent from the Devils’ rookie camp roster is the 2026 12th-overall pick, Alexander Command. The Swedish-born player is electing to stay in his home country and play hockey for Örebro HK for the coming season.

Also of note, Jeremy Brodeur was invited to camp. One of the three goaltenders on the roster, he has played in the American Hockey League (AHL) circuit and the ECHL circuit for a long time but has yet to make his NHL debut. Hopefully, a strong performance will prove Brodeur’s ability to the Devils’ management. 

Even though he played in 33 games with the Devils last season, Lenni Hameenaho was still named to the Devils rookie camp roster and will try to make his mark to get a full-time spot on the New Jersey roster. After splitting his time between the Devils and their AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets, Hameenaho should know what to expect for the second-consecutive season.

There are so many good players to pay attention to in the Devils’ 2026-27 rookie camp, which will begin on Saturday, Sept. 12 with a practice. They will then play the New York Islanders rookie roster at the RWJ Barnabas Center, the Devils’ training facility, on Sunday, Sep. 13. Monday will be another practice day, followed by a game at the Northwell Health Ice Center, the Islanders’ practice facility, on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Both games will be live streamed for fans to watch.
