Mintyukov generating offer sheet interest — The Fourth Period

Multiple teams are believed to have interest in pitching restricted free agent defenceman Pavel Mintyukov an offer sheet, as the Anaheim Ducks evaluate potentially losing another player via this approach.

On Friday, the Philadelphia Flyers signed Ducks star centre Leo Carlsson to a five-year, $90 million offer sheet. The Ducks have six more days to match the offer or take four first-round draft picks as compensation.

Mintyukov, 22, is also in need of a new contract and teams have approached his camp about his availability, with the Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens among the clubs rumoured to have interest.

According to sources, TFP has learned the Ducks and Mintyukov’s agent have circled back earlier today and have been discussing a potential contract while also juggling outside interest.

The Ducks could also explore trading Mintyukov to a team that has expressed interest in him.

In November, it had been reported that Mintyukov was unhappy with his ice time and may want a change of scenery. His usage increased after reports surfaced and the belief is he is interested in saying in Anaheim, but is looking for a competitive contract.

Drafted 10th overall by the Ducks in 2022, the Moscow native played in 73 games with the Ducks last season and registered eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points, along with 17 penalty minutes.
