Two decisions confirmed by Martin St-Louis are generating major discussion ahead of Game 4 between the Montreal Canadiens and the Carolina Hurricanes.
The second concerns the team’s preparation for tomorrow night’s crucial matchup.
Nicolas Cloutier of TVA Sports noticed the first decision:
“We didn’t see the fourth line in overtime.”
Brendan Gallagher was absent from the extras group at practice this morning in Brossard
Another interesting decision that was pointed out in the last few minutes.
“No practice for the Canadiens or the Hurricanes today in Montreal.”
Let’s revisit these interesting decisions from MSL.
First of all, unlike what we saw during overtime in Carolina, this time Martin St-Louis glued his fourth line to the bench during last night’s overtime at the Bell Centre.
It should be remembered that the decision to use the fourth line in overtime Saturday night against the Hurricanes had been extremely controversial and heavily criticized.
But last night, St-Louis changed his philosophy.
The fourth line stayed glued to the bench for the entire overtime period.
The Canadiens’ best players received more ice time in the crucial moment. And it is precisely the kind of adjustment that was noticed by many experts.
Unfortunately, the final result was no different.
