Jon Cooper sparked laughter in a press conference last night after the Tampa Bay Lightning’s win over the Montreal Canadiens.
The enforcer, inserted into the lineup by Cooper before Game 2, took an interference penalty with 2:15 left in regulation, with the score tied 2-2.
The kind of penalty that could have cost the Lightning the game.
A move many called stupid.
And Cooper still defended him.

For 58 minutes, he held his own.
The room burst out laughing.

“I cannot control everything but I think he was a big part of us having success tonight.”

Cooper seems to love him, but another costly penalty in Montreal could come at a high price.
