Could the Ducks explore McTavish trade? — The Fourth Period
The Anaheim Ducks are one of the NHL’s top young teams with a very bright future ahead of them. Loaded with top-young talent, the Ducks may begin to explore taking the next steps in their rebuild process.
Led by young stars Leo Carlsson, Jackson LaCombe, Cutter Gauthier and others, the Ducks made the second-round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, losing to the Vegas Golden Knights, who have made their way to the Stanley Cup Final.
As Ducks GM Pat Verbeek looks to further improve his roster for next season, one player he is willing to take calls on is young forward Mason McTavish.
McTavish, 23, is entering the second year of a seven-year, $42 million contract. While the Ducks are not actively shopping him, teams have been inquiring and Verbeek is listening.
TFP’s David Pagnotta also noted the chatter around McTavish during his weekly appearance on DFO Live on Thursday.
Several teams are believed to have interest in McTavish, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets, among others.
McTavish, who can play either centre or left wing, does not own any no-trade protection until his eligible years.
In 75 games with the Ducks this season, McTavish registered 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points.
