Canadiens sign forward Zachary Bolduc to four-year, US$16.8-million contract
It was a busy weekend for Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes ahead of the team’s annual golf tournament Monday at Laval-sur-le-Lac.
On Saturday, Hughes signed veteran free-agent forward Chris Kreider to a one-year, US$2.15-million contract with the possibility of another US$3.125 million in bonus performances for the 35-year-old. Kreider had 22-28-50 totals in 75 games last season with the Anaheim Ducks.
On Sunday, Hughes signed restricted free-agent forward Zachary Bolduc to a four-year, US$16.8-million contract that carries an annual salary-cap hit of US$4.2 million. The 23-year-old Bolduc posted 12-18-30 totals in 78 games last season with the Canadiens after being acquired last summer from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenceman Logan Mailloux. In 19 playoff games, Bolduc had 3-4-7 totals. Despite averaging only 11:23 of ice time in the playoffs, he ranked second on the Canadiens with 47 hits, trailing only defenceman Kaiden Guhle with 51.
