Canadiens Should Take Chance On Ex-Oilers Forward With PTO
NHL teams are starting to sign players to professional tryout (PTO) agreements now that training camps are getting closer.
The Montreal Canadiens have not invited any players to PTOs yet, but it fair to wonder if that could change before the start of training camp.

One free agent who the Canadiens should consider taking a chance on with a PTO is former Edmonton Oilers forward Adam Henrique.
While Henrique is not the same top-six forward he was during his prime, it would not hurt for the Canadiens to give him a look on a PTO. If he earned a contract for the season through it, he would give them another veteran forward for their depth.
Henrique could work well as a depth forward for the Canadiens if he earned a contract for the season, as he can play both down the middle and on the wing. With that, there would be no real harm in the Habs giving him a chance on a PTO.
Henrique played in 65 games last season for the Oilers, where he posted three goals and 15 points. This was after he had 12 goals, 15 assists, and 27 points in 81 games for the Oilers in 2024-25. If he regained his 2024-25 form for Montreal, he could be a solid depth pickup for their roster if he earned a contract for the season.
