Canadiens Should Take A Chance On This Defenseman With A PTO
The Montreal Canadiens should be open to bringing in a player on a professional tryout (PTO) agreement for training camp this year.
One remaining free agent who could make sense for the Canadiens to take a look at on a PTO is defenseman John Klingberg.

Klingberg is the top right-shot free agent defenseman left, and the Canadiens could use more depth on the right side of their blueline. If he impressed during his PTO and earned an affordable deal for the season, he could be a useful extra defenseman for the Habs to have when injuries occur during the season.
Klingberg showed this past season with the San Jose Sharks that he is still capable of producing decent offense from the point. In 56 games with the Pacific Division club, he posted 10 goals, 17 assists, and 27 points. With numbers like these, he could be worth taking a chance on with a PTO.
If Klingberg earned a contract for the season, he would also give the Canadiens another veteran who could help mentor their younger players. He has 700 games of NHL experience, after all, which is not a bad thing.
It will be interesting to see if the Canadiens sign Klingberg to a PTO ahead of training camp. If he is still not signed to a contract by then, it could be worth some consideration.
