Canadiens’ minor-league makeover continues as Sean Farrell is dealt to Ducks

While Canadiens fans eagerly await roster movement with the big club, the Laval Rocket continues to undergo an off-season makeover.

Forward Sean Farrell, who spent the last three seasons with the Rocket, has been traded to the Anaheim Ducks for forward Sasha Pastujov.

Farrell, 24, was selected by the Habs in the fourth round (No. 124 overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft. After two seasons at Harvard, he joined the Canadiens at the end of the 2022-23 season. He played six games with the Habs and had one assist.

It ended up being the only time the 5-foot-9, 175-pound forward from Hopkinton, Mass., suited up for the Canadiens.

While size was an issue for Farrell, Pastujov is closer to the NHL average at 6 feet and 186 pounds. The 23-year-old Bradenton, Fla., native had 21-36-57 point totals in 71 games last season with the AHL’s San Diego Gulls.

Pastujov was selected in the third round (No. 66 overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft.

Farrell joins a growing list of Rocket players to depart this summer, including Joshua Roy, Samuel Blais, William Trudeau, Luke Tuch, Marc Del Gaizo, Nate Clurman, Tobie Bisson and Josiah Didier.
