The Montreal Canadiens can advance to the NHL’s Eastern Conference final Saturday night with a win over the Buffalo Sabres.
Montreal holds a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven conference semifinal.
The series winner will face the Carolina Hurricanes, who already swept the Philadelphia Flyers out of the second round of the playoffs.
Defenceman Lane Hutson and captain Nick Suzuki lead Montreal’s offence with 12 points apiece in these playoffs.
Tage Thompson has 11 points for Buffalo.
The puck drops at the Bell Centre at 8 p.m. tonight. Streets surrounding the arena will be shut down to traffic starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Montreal Victoire will host their opponents today, the Ottawa Charge, in Game 2 of the Walter Cup final.
That game starts at 2 p.m. at Place Bell in Laval.
