Additional management changes for the Blues — The Fourth Period
The St. Louis Blues will see Doug Armstrong shift to an advisory role July 1, with Alex Steen taking over as General Manager – a plan that has been in place for some time.
With the upcoming move, though, additional changes to the management team are also taking place.
According to multiple reports, Blues Vice President of Hockey Operations Peter Chiarelli is leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities in the NHL.
Kevin Maxwell, who is the GM of the club’s AHL affiliate in Springfield, and a pro scout with the Blues, is also leaving the team and is expected to rejoin the New York Rangers in a management position.
Blues Assistant GMs Ryan Miller and Tim Taylor are expected to remain with the club, wile Senior Advisor to the GM Scott Mellanby may see his role elevate.
The Blues currently sit 13th in the Western Conference with a 30-30-11 record.
