‘I look a little lost’: Canadiens forward Cole Caufield isn’t a fan of his NHL 27 facial scan

EA Sports released its annual edition of the NHL video game series on Friday, and with it has come some questions from fans about the odd facial scans of the players.

In particular, Canadiens forward Cole Caufield, fresh off his first 50-goal campaign, doesn’t quite look like himself in the game.

ESPN took notice, as well. They asked a dozen players to critique their video game doppelgangers, including Caufield. They also had two players get rated by their teammates.

“I don’t know what happened there. I look a little lost. I look like I need some sleep or some water. I don’t know. It’s tough. Every time I open my phone, it’s there. Somebody will send it to me,” Caufield told ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski.

“The hair doesn’t look bad. I’ll take the salad. Good jawline, too. But other than that it looks like I saw a ghost or something.”

Caufield’s former U.S. National Under-18 teammate Trevor Zegras, who plays for the Philadelphia Flyers, is one of those people spamming Caufield’s phone every day.

Zegras told Wyshynski he was fine with his likeness, but considered Caufield’s to be one of the bad ones.

“It’s awful. I send it to him every day because it’s terrible.”

Caufield’s digitized self isn’t the only one to draw double takes from Habs fans. Captain Nick Suzuki and defencemen Jayden Struble also looked unrecognizable.
