Trocheck confirms Western teams on his no-trade list — The Fourth Period

Vincent Trocheck knows he is a prime candidate to be traded ahead of Friday’s 3pm trade deadline and is preparing himself and his family for what may be an inevitability this week.

In an interview with Vince Mercogliano of The Athletic, Trocheck confirmed that he is aware of a possible move and is trying to get him and his family ready.

Armed with a 12-team no-trade list, the veteran forward also noted he wants to join a Stanley Cup contender and prefers to stay as East as possible.

“If I’m gonna get traded to a team that’s in the same situation as us, then I don’t want to move,” Trocheck said. “That sounds miserable in a new city. I am 32 years old. I would like to win a Stanley Cup, so if I am going to get traded, I would like to go to a team that’s winning, or has a chance to win.”

“It’s not a secret: (Western teams) are on my no-trade clause.”

Trocheck has three years left on his contract and comes with a $5.625 million salary cap hit, which is very appealing to several teams in pursuit.

The Minnesota Wild, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Carolina Hurricanes and Utah Mammoth are among the clubs believed to be interested in him. A trade, though, is not yet imminent, and while things can change, the Rangers are not planning to scratch him, as of early this afternoon, in tonight’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

“I only have a 12-team no-trade clause. It’s not like I have full protection and I need to be in with them on every single phone call,” Trochec said. “But I mean, me and (Drury) have a great relationship. He’s been very open and honest with me and transparent, so I feel like I get as many calls as a player could get.”

In 45 games with the Rangers so far this season, Trocheck has scored 12 goals and added 26 assists for 38 points, along with 44 penalty minutes.
