Patrik Laine draws trade interest from Los Angeles Kings, per Marco D’Amico
“My source with the Los Angeles Kings confirms to me that Patrik Laine is something that could be considered, but they’re not there yet. The reason I believe it makes sense for the Kings is this: first, we just talked about it – their power play really isn’t good.
The small issue, however, is that Patrik Laine and Artemi Panarin play on the same side on the power play. So they would have to move one or the other.
They’re looking at other options right now, but I stand by what I’m saying. The lack of rental players available on this market who can play on the power play and make a difference – that might work in the Canadiens’ favor.
But I have to tell you, I’m not sure this will be a top priority for the Los Angeles Kings. The fit is there, with the salary cap and the space they have, they can afford it.
However, I think they’ll look at that situation after acquiring a second-line center. The Los Angeles Kings are going to give up significant assets to land a center.”
