Parayko declines trade to Sabres — The Fourth Period

Share

Veteran defenceman Colton Parayko has declined to waive his no-trade clause and accept a trade to the Buffalo Sabres.

On Wednesday, the Blues and Sabres agreed on the framework of a trade that would have sent Parayko to Buffalo had he accepted.

TFP’s David Pagnotta reported on the “Real Kyper and Bourne” on Sportsnet on Wednesday afternoon that the Sabres were to send 2025 ninth-overall draft pick Radim Mrtka in a package back to St. Louis for Parayko.

Parayko ranks among the Bubble List players on TFP’s Trade Watch List.

The Sabres will have shift their focus elsewhere.

Parayko, 32, has four more years remaining on his contract after this season and comes with a $6.5 million salary cap hit.

In 58 games with the Blues so far this season, Parayko has registered one goal and 13 assists, along with 16 penalty minutes.
