Panarin TRADED To LA. DONE
The New York Rangers traded star left winger Artemi Panarin (34 years old) to the Los Angeles Kings. In return, the Rangers received forward prospect Liam Greentree (a former first-round pick) and a conditional third-round draft pick (which could upgrade to a second-rounder based on playoff performance; some reports also mention an additional conditional fourth in 2028). The Rangers retained 50% of Panarin’s remaining salary cap hit for the season (his original contract was $11.64 million AAV).
Panarin then signed a quick two-year extension…
Whenever there is an underwhelimin return, as I believe this is, it means the trading team,in this case the Rangers, didn’t have many options…tHe short term extension is interesting..The belief was Pararin wanted to go to a warm climate.. And after two years maybe Tampa or Florida could become an option….
I always like to ask “who won the trade?”…. but in this situation we’re gonna have to wait because what the Rangers really got in this deal was cap space..;; basically money on the credit card… and in the past, the Rangers have been very quick to spend any money they get on the credit card… and really it’s whoever they sign and that’s part of the deal as well… and that has to be considered…
