In Ottawa, the Canadiens came out of a game that refused to die with a big win against the Senators.
The Senators struck early on the power play, but the Canadiens managed to keep their nose in front anyway. At one point, Brady Tkachuk’s goal brought Ottawa back to 2-1, and you could already feel it was going to be a long night.
The game then took a different turn on the scoreboard. Jake Sanderson’s goal made it 5-3 for the Senators, and the Canadiens found themselves chasing the clock.
In an arena like that, it’s exactly the kind of score that gets the crowd on its feet and makes every shift loud.
Martin St-Louis pulled his goalie early
That’s when the decision to pull the goalie with about four minutes left took center stage.

It’s no small thing, especially in such an open game. It sent a clear message to the bench and forced Ottawa to live with an end of the game that felt like a sprint.
In the end, the Canadiens earned the bonus point in overtime. And even if that game stands on its own, it fits with what your leaders have already shown over a strong stretch.
In a rivalry like that, you take the win and turn the page. But what sticks is the boldness from the bench and a game that refused to calm down.
Bravo to Martin St-Louis for that decision.
