Mammoth trying to land Weegar from Flames — The Fourth Period

The Utah Mammoth are in advanced trade negotiations with the Calgary Flames involving veteran defenceman Mackenzie Weegar.

Weegar, 32, has five more seasons left on his contract after this season and comes with a $6.25 million salary cap hit.

He also owns a full no-trade clause has must sign off on this trade in order for it to be completed.

It is unclear what the Flames will be receiving as part of his trade, if it becomes official.

Weegar ranks No.30 on TFP’s Trade Watch List.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman first reported a deal between the two clubs was in the offing.
