Is Canadiens rookie Ivan Demidov’s shot at Calder slipping away? | HI/O Bonus
Canadiens forward Ivan Demidov scored a goal in the Canadiens’ 7-5 loss to the Sharks Tuesday night in San Jose.
It was only the third goal in the last 22 games for Demidov, who ranked second in rookie scoring after the game with 13-35-48 totals, one point behind Anaheim Ducks forward Beckett Sennecke, who had 19-30-49 totals.
Is there any reason for concern about Demidov’s drop-off in goals, and does the 20-year-old have any chance of winning the Calder Trophy this season as the NHL’s top rookie ahead of the New York Islanders’ Matthew Schaefer, who is the first 18-year-old defenceman in NHL history to score 20 goals?
