Peterka reached the 20-goal mark faster than he ever has in his NHL career (56 games) playing for the Utah Mammoth this season. The 24-year-old is set to make his Olympic debut after helping Germany win silver at the the 2023 IIHF World Championship, the country’s first medal at the event in 70 years. Peterka, who set NHL career highs in assists (41 in 77 games), points (68), power-play goals (six) and power-play assists (18) for the Buffalo Sabres last season, is expected to play a top-six role for Germany, which as the ceiling of advancing to the medal round. Peterka has been practicing on the team’s top power-play unit with Leon Draisaitl, Tim Stutzle, Lukas Reichel and Moritz Seider.
