Avalanche not done dealing? — The Fourth Period
The Colorado Avalanche already pulled the trigger on one trade this week, acquiring Brett Kulak from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Sam Girard and a draft pick, and GM Chris MacFarland may look to bolster his roster even further over the next nine days leading up to the trade deadline.
After Tuesday’s trade, the Avalanche have just over $8.7 million in current salary cap space and could look to add a depth defenceman and a mid-six forward by the March 6 deadline.
The Avalanche have been linked to Winnipeg Jets blueliner Luke Schenn, but it is unclear if Colorado has approached the Jets lately about a move.
MacFarland may focus on adding depth up front in the coming days, having already addressed the bluleline, and may try to upgrade his team at the centre position and deepen his team even more up the middle.

The Avs have been connected to a potential reunion with Nazem Kadri of the Calgary Flames, as well as having interest in New York Rangers centre Vincent Trocheck, among others.
Kadri ($7M AAV) and Trocheck ($5.625M AAV) each have three years left on their respective contracts after this season.
