Bergevin joins Sabres management team — The Fourth Period

The news comes the Sabres announced the firing of Associate GM Jason Karmanos, who was also the GM of Buffalo’s AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans.

“We thank Jason for his contributions to the Buffalo Sabres and Rochester Americans and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Kekalainen said in a statement.

While GM of the Habs, Bergevin built a team that made the 2021 Stanley Cup Final, losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning in five games.

He started his off-ice career as a pro scout with the Chicago Blackhawks and three years later became an assistant coach. He moved to Director of Player Personnel in 2009, winning the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2010. He was promoted to Assistant GM in 2011 and joined the Canadiens the following season.
