Kelly: Adding Phillip Danault proves Canadiens management wants team to be more Québécois
The rich irony is under general manager Kent Hughes, an anglophone from the West Island, the team is much more focused on picking up Quebec players than it was when the team was under the reign of Marc Bergevin, a francophone Montrealer. With the addition of Danault, there are now six Quebec players on the roster: Danault, Alexandre Carrier, Zachary Bolduc, Joe Veleno, Mike Matheson and Samuel Montembeault. (Montembeault is currently on a conditioning stint with the Laval Rocket, but is expected to return to the team Sunday.) Adding to the franco flavour, the team also has a player from France in Alexandre Texier. The two anglo Quebecers, Matheson and Veleno, are both bilingual.
