Maple Leafs remain engaged in trade market — The Fourth Period

Share

The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to explore the trade market and GM Brad Treliving remains in the market for both a top-six forward and a top-four defenceman.

Treliving has been on the prowl for another offensive threat in his top-six since the off-season.

The Leafs have been dangling the likes of forwards Max Domi and most recently Mattias Maccelli, whom they acquired in the off-season from Utah.

Domi, 30, is in the first year of a four-year, $15 million contract and owns a 13-team no-trade list as part of his deal.

Maccelli, 25, is in the final year of a three-year, $10.275 million deal.

The Maple Leafs tried to acquire Mason Marchment in the off-season, before he was dealt to the Seattle Kraken, and he is believed to still be of interest, as TFP’s David Pagnotta reported over the weekend.

Meanwhile, on the blueline, the Leafs continue to look for upgrades. The team has shown interest in Calgary Flames blueliner Rasmus Anderrson in the past, and according to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, they’ve checked in on his availability once again.

“One thing I should mention is that among the teams that have circled back on Rasmus Andersson is the Toronto Maple Leafs,” LeBrun said. “We know the Leafs tried to trade for Andersson last year at the deadline, and why I mentioned Toronto is that my understanding is that the Leafs would be one of those teams that perhaps Andersson would consider extending with, if in fact a trade would work out between those two teams.”
