Cowan: Kudos to Canadiens for righting a wrong with Andrei Markov
After being selected by the Canadiens in the sixth round (162nd overall) of the 1998 NHL Draft, the Russian defenceman played 990 regular-season games with the franchise, posting 119-453-572 totals. Markov ranks second in games played by a Canadiens blue-liner, trailing only Larry Robinson with 1,202, and is tied with Guy Lapointe for second place in points by a defenceman, once again trailing Robinson with 883.
