Canadiens Prospect Has Strong Game In Ufa Salavat Yulaev Win
While action has yet to resume in the NHL, the KHL season kicked off this weekend, and Montreal Canadiens prospect Alexander Zharovsky has already played two games. While he was held off the scoresheet in Ufa Salavat Yulaev’s 3-2 win over Cherepovets Severstal on Saturday, he was an integral part of Monday’s 4-0 win over Guy Boucher and the Omsk Avangard.
Zharovsky picked up two assists in the contest: the first on Nikita Shcherbakov’s (a New Jersey Devils‘ second-round pick at the 2026 draft) first career goal, and the second on another even-strength lamplighter; that one was scored by Vadim Shipachyov (who played three games with the Vegas Golden Knights in2017-18 before heading back to the KHL).

The Canadiens’ second-round pick at the 2025 draft made a strong impression in Montreal over the summer, spending weeks training with fellow Russian Ivan Demidov and discovering the city. He also attended his first development camp with the organization after visa issues prevented him from attending in 2025. He also made one appearance in the three-on-three LSHL, where he showcased his great hands with a few spectacular breakaway goals.
Zharovsky has very smooth hands, and he can thread the needle through defensemen like the best of them. The 19-year-old is in the final season of his contract with Ufa and will be free to move to North America at the end of the season.
