The calendar has flipped to September, but there is no sign that the Detroit Red Wings are any closer to honoring Dylan Larkin’s trade request.

And that’s one of the topics of today’s NHL Rumor Roundup column.

You recall that Larkin submitted his request back in the spring, and he had asked to go to either the Minnesota Wild, the Florida Panthers, or the Vegas Golden Knights, and it was also rumored that the Dallas Stars could be a potential destination.

However, Larkin’s situation remains in limbo while the Red Wings continue their search for a new general manager.

It’s also been suggested by some pundits that, if Larkin still insists on being moved but there’s no possible trade with those four clubs that I mentioned earlier, then he may have to expand his trade list destination.

And one of the teams that has been brought up was the Montreal Canadiens.

In fact, NHL Network’s Mike Johnson was asked about that, and he believes that the Canadiens could be a good destination for Larkin if he’s serious about chasing the Stanley Cup.

He noted that, it’s no secret that they’re in the market for a top six forward, preferably a center, and that they have, plenty of tradable assets to be able to make a tempting offer to the Red Wings.

Now, that is certainly true.

However, we should bear in mind that Larkin’s, current list of destinations are all based in the United States.

And that likely means that if he does expand his list of preferred destinations, that the Canadiens or any of the other Canadian teams will not be on that list.
