Montreal Canadiens will add Carey Price to Ring of Honour
A day after being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Carey Price will be added to the Montreal Canadiens’ Ring of Honour, the club announced Tuesday.
The organization will celebrate the Hall-bound goaltender on Nov. 10 at the Bell Centre.
A native of Anahim Lake, B.C., Price played for the Canadiens from 2007-2022 and is the club’s all-time leader in wins by a goalie with 361. He’s one of only five goalies in NHL history to win the Vézina Trophy and the Hart Trophy in the same season.
He won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2014 Sochi Olympics when he posted a 5-0 record with a 0.60 GAA and a .972 save percentage.
Price was passed over in his first year of eligibility for the Hall of Fame last year, unlike teammate Shea Weber, who was inducted during his first year of eligibility in 2024. Weber is also the most recent Hab to join the Ring of Honour, also in 2024.
Pierre Turgeon (2023) and Guy Carbonneau (2019) are the other recent inductees.
Along with Price, former Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron, former Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne, power forward Keith Tkachuk, women’s player Cindy Curley and exec Brian Burke will enter the Hall on Nov. 9 in Toronto.
Price will become the 62nd Hab to enter the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The club’s all-time winningest netminder recently praised the current goaltending duo on the Habs. He told NHL.com that starter Jakub Dobes has “got that ‘grrr’ in his game,” while rookie backup Jacob Fowler “reminds me more of myself, a little more reserved.”
