Montreal Canadiens loan Vinzenz Rohrer to EV Zug for 26-27 season

Vinzenz Rohrer has been loaned to EV Zug of the Swiss National League for the reminder of the Swiss team’s 2026-27 season. Rohrer signed a three-year entry level contract with the Canadiens in June 2025, but signed a deal with Zug earlier this month.
He is still under contract with the Montreal Canadiens organization through the 2027–28 season and can be recalled to North America at any time.
This means that Rohrer has changed teams from the Zürich Lions, where he was mostly used on a third or fourth line role and the expectation is that he will get a bigger role with his new team. The team and Rohrer probably agree that a bigger role than he would see in Laval is better for his long-term growth.
Zug finished eighth in last year’s standings and lost to Davos in the quarterfinals, they are expecting to challenge for a higher position this year.
