Canadiens release official statement involving Kirby Dach and a top Sharks prospect

The Montreal Canadiens have just released a very interesting official statement.

Several Canadiens players spent part of their offseason supporting the next generation of hockey players, each in their own way.

The organization shared a recap in an official release.

A former first-round pick himself, Dach travelled to Buffalo for the 2026 NHL Draft a few weeks ago.

His reason for attending was personal.

Dach’s cousin officially became a defensive prospect for the San Jose Sharks.

Dach understands the pressure that comes with draft night, and he wanted to be there for his cousin. We love to see it!

It’s also interesting to learn that Verhoeff is Dach’s cousin. That’s a true hockey family.

But Dach wasn’t the only Canadiens player supporting the next generation.

Other members of the team also spent time helping young players this summer.

Lane Hutson and Ivan Demidov attended the development camp scrimmages.

Two young cornerstones came out to watch the organization’s prospects in action.

Alex Newhook also got involved, this time by supporting young female players.

He was a special guest at the Maggie Connors & Abby Newhook Elite Camp, which was organized for players at the U9 to U15 levels.

Between the rumours and their offseason preparation, these players are finding ways to give back to the sport.
