Montreal Victoire sign Michelle Karvinen to one-year contract

The Montreal Victoire have added another veteran presence to their forward group this off-season, adding Michelle Karvinen on a one-year contract.
Karvinen, 36, was Vancouver’s first round pick (eighth overall) in the 2025 PWHL Draft and became an unrestricted free agent after they did not offer her a qualifying offer. There were reports she was considering retirement or going back to Europe, but will join the Victoire.
Karvinen was born in Denmark but represents Finland internationally. She will join a forward group that added Emma Maltais, Jessie Eldridge, and Petra Nieminen through free agency and the draft. Karvinen and Nieminen have formed one of the more dynamic international duos over the last few years.
She had three goals and six assists with Vancouver in 30 games in her rookie PWHL season. She adds over 400 games of international hockey experience, and 300 games of European pro hockey experience mostly in Sweden.
With Marie-Philip Poulin expected to miss the season, Karvinen will fit right into the team’s forward group and provide a scoring depth option who is responsible all 200 feet on the ice.
