Panthers acquire Brady Tkachuk from Senators — The Fourth Period

The Florida Panthers have completed a blockbuster trade, acquiring forward Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for the ninth-overall pick and 25th overall pick in this year’s draft, a 2029 top-10 protected first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick.

Tkachuk, 26, has two years remaining on his contract and comes with an $8.25 million salary cap hit.

Though a formal trade request may not have been made, Tkachuk was not willing to extend in Ottawa beyond his contract, and he and his camp worked with the Senators to provide a short list of teams he would waive his no-movement clause for, according to TFP’s David Pagnotta.

As reported by TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, the Senators had asked for centre Anton Lundell as part of a package, but the Panthers declined and instead agreed on four high draft picks.
