The search for a second-line centre for the Montreal Canadiens is becoming clearer through a process of elimination, as four names already need to be removed from the list of targets.
Earlier, Marc-Olivier Beaudoin compiled a list of all impact centres who could potentially be available this summer.
His list included approximately 13 players.
Two additional candidates can also be added to the list.
But that list is already shrinking.
According to the latest information, four of those centres are no longer options for the Canadiens.
The market is tightening quickly.
A full quarter of the original list has disappeared at once.
Doors are closing one by one for Kent Hughes
Montreal is reportedly not among the teams on the Red Wings forward’s list.
St. Louis has apparently decided not to trade its star centre after all.
You can see Beaudoin’s full list here:
It remains to be seen where Kent Hughes will focus his efforts, but with four targets already eliminated, the Canadiens’ general manager must now navigate a market that is rapidly shrinking.
The coming weeks promise to be very interesting!
