Johnson set to oversee Canucks hockey ops — The Fourth Period
The Vancouver Canucks are nearing the finish line in their GM search, and it appears current Assistant GM Ryan Johnson will be elevated to oversee the team’s hockey operations department moving forward.
According to DFO Rundown Insider Edition co-host Irfaan Gaffar, the Canucks have offered Johnson the job, presumably as General Manager, while Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that momentum is moving in Johnson’s direction.
Johnson, 49, has been with the Canucks organization in a front office role since 2013, winning a Calder Cup with the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks as their GM in the 2024-25 season.
Boston Bruins AGM Evan Gold was a finalist for the GM position in Vancouver, but is unlikely to join the Canucks organization now that Johnson is the incoming GM.
