Predators to interview Fitzgerald for GM role — The Fourth Period
As the Nashville Predators continue their hunt for a new General Manager, the team is expected to meet with former New Jersey Devils President and GM Tom Fitzgerald this week.
On Saturday, during “The Hot Stove” on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio, TFP’s David Pagnotta reported that Fitzgerald was now in the running for the Nashville vacancy.
Fitzgerald, whom New Jersey fired on April 6, spent almost four seasons as a player with the Predators from 1998-2022.
While the Predators have reportedly interviewed several candidates for their GM post, including the likes of Dallas Stars Assistant GM Scott White, former Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin, Boston Bruins Assistant GM Jamie Langenbrunner, and others, Fitzgerald’s availability has given ownership another experienced executive to speak with.
During Monday’s edition of “32 Thoughts,” Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman also reported that Fitzgerald “goes in this week” to meet with the Predators.
“We’ll see where that goes, as part of it,” he added.
According to Pagnotta, the Predators are hoping to hire a new GM by the end of this month.
