Silayev expected to join Devils after season — The Fourth Period
The New Jersey Devils are already in off-season planning mode given how this season has gone and one key piece to their future blueline is expected to join them as early as this summer.
Anton Silayev, drafted 10th overall by the Devils in the 2024 NHL Draft, is currently battling with Nizhny Novgorod in the KHL playoffs. Once his post-season run comes to a close, the 6-foot-7 blueliner is expected to sign his entry-level contract with the Devils.
TFP’s David Pagnotta first reported at the start of the month that Silayev may soon join the Devils and reiterated that news on Friday during his weekly appearance on “The Sheet” with Jeff Marek.
“The plan is for him to sign his entry-level contract with the New Jersey Devils and come on over,” Pagnotta said. “It’s not an easy (visa) process, there are a lot of hoops to go through – it’s going to take a little bit of time. My understanding is the goal is to be on this side of the pond is to be at development camp after the NHL Draft (in late-June/early-July).”
In 61 games with Torpedo in the KHL this season, Silayev registered one goal, two assists and 10 penalty minutes.
