We all held our breath last night when number 13 headed to the locker room with only 90 seconds left on the clock.
The good news for the Canadiens is that Cole Caufield is not injured.
The organization preferred to manage his energy so he wouldn’t be completely exhausted before the next matchup. Cole Caufield also boarded the plane with his teammates for the trip to Ottawa this morning.
Over the last three games, the Canadiens have posted a 2-0-1 record. You can feel the team finding its rhythm, and losing a piece like Caufield would have been a major blow to the offensive production.
Ivan Demidov took Cole’s place on the first line in the second half of the game. The young Russian showed some promising flashes with controlled zone entries that got the crowd on its feet.

A crucial matchup against the Senators
The head coach appears confident that he will be able to count on his star winger as soon as Wednesday. It remains to be seen whether his workload will still be limited or if he will return to his usual ice time.
It’s reassuring to know that it’s just a virus and not a shoulder or knee injury. The Montreal Canadiens would hit a serious rough patch without their top goal scorer.
The Canadiens need all of its offensive punch to hope to climb the Atlantic Division standings. A quick rebound runs through Caufield, especially on the power play.
People around the team are breathing easier this morning. We will be watching the warmup in Ottawa closely to know for sure whether he will be in the lineup.
