NHL Status Report: Schwartz out indefinitely for Kraken with upper-body injury
Ottawa Senators
Jake Sanderson is week to week because of an upper-body injury, Senators coach Travis Green said before their game at the Vancouver Canucks on Monday (9 p.m. ET; RDS, Prime). The defenseman, who won the gold medal with Team USA last month at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, left in the second period of a 7-4 win against the Kraken on Saturday after a hit into the boards from Brandon Montour. Sanderson, who will be replaced by defenseman Nikolas Matinpalo on Monday, leads Ottawa defensemen in goals (11), assists (37), points (48) and time on ice per game (24:49) in 62 games this season. “He’s a big piece for sure,” Green said. “He’s an important player for our team, obviously, but like we always do, next man up.” The Senators (31-22-9) trail the Boston Bruins by five points for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.
