The Laval Rocket has just confirmed an announcement regarding a personnel move involving goaltender Hunter Jones.

The team has decided to send him back to the Trois-Rivières Lions in the ECHL.

Jones did not have an easy time during his most recent stint in the American Hockey League. In his last start on Saturday against the Crunch, he allowed 6 goals on just 19 shots.

He leaves Laval with a record of 0-3-0, a 4.16 goals-against average, and a .844 save percentage. It is a solid decision by the Rocket to allow him to regain his rhythm with the Lions.

We can agree that this move is setting the stage for a major development. Head coach Pascal Vincent hinted that Jacob Fowler could make a return this weekend.

The young prodigy has been resting since February 16 due to a virus that hit him quite hard. Fowler still holds a dominant record of 18-7-1 and a .915 save percentage this season.

With the trade deadline approaching on Friday, Kent Hughes is keeping an eye out to stabilize his depth. The Rocket currently holds a 34-17-5 record and sits atop its division.

Let’s be honest, the atmosphere at Place Bell will rise a notch if Fowler confirms his return. There is no ground to lose in this race for the AHL playoffs.

The Montreal Canadiens organization is managing its assets carefully to avoid late-season confusion. Hunter Jones will at least get regular playing time in Mauricie, where he has already shined this year.
