Thomas trade talks continue for Blues — The Fourth Period
The St. Louis Blues remain engaged in trade discussions with multiple teams involving centre Robert Thomas, as Friday’s trade deadline quickly approaches.
Thomas, 26, is in the third year of an eight-year, $65 million contract and owns a full no-trade clause that will need to be signed off on should a trade arise.
The Utah Mammoth, Montreal Canadiens, Seattle Kraken, Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres are among the teams believed to have continued interest in Thomas, though other teams have explored the possibility, including the likes of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes.
Trade talks between the Blues and Sabres intensified Wednesday but later shifted away from Thomas. The two teams have agreed to a trade involving defenceman Colton Parayko, who must waive his no-trade clause in order for the deal to go through. Defenceman Radim Mrtka, drafted ninth-overall last summer, and a first-round draft pick are going back to St. Louis if that deal is approved.

While the Sabres may push again for Thomas, the Mammoth are believed to have serious interest in acquiring him.
According to TFP’s David Pagnotta, the Blues have asked that last summer’s fourth-overall pick, Caleb Desnoyers, be included in a large package for Thomas.
The Blues are also talking to teams about other players, including the likes of defenceman Justin Faulk, goaltender Jordan Binnington, and forwards Oskar Sundqvist, Brayden Schenn, Jordan Kyrou and Pius Suter.
