Sherwood inks 5-year extension with Sharks — The Fourth Period
The San Jose Sharks have signed winger Kiefer Sherwood to a five-year, $28.75 million contract extension with the San Jose Sharks.
TFP’s David Pagnotta first reported on Leafs Morning Take that a five-year extension was agreed upon, while TSN’s Chris Johnston via X first reported Sherwood’s $5.75 million AAV.
“We are very excited to have Kiefer remain in San Jose and be part of the group that we are building,” said Sharks GM Mike Grier. “The ingredients he brings to our line-up on a nightly basis blend extremely well with the skillsets of his teammates and we look forward to his contributions in the years to come.”
Sherwood, 30, has tallied 18 goals and seven assists for 25 points in 49 games with the Vancouver Canucks and Sharks so far this season.
He currently ranks second in the NHL in hits with 238.
San Jose acquired Sherwood from Vancouver on January 19 in exchange for two second-round draft picks and a prospect.
In 314 career NHL regular-season games with the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, Nashville Predators, Canucks and Sharks, to date, Sherwood has accumulated 61 goals and 62 assists for 123 points and 150 penalty minutes.
