Senators looking to buy ahead of deadline — The Fourth Period
The Ottawa Senators may be in tough to make the playoffs this season, but that isn’t stopping GM Steve Staios from trying to improve his hockey club.
Staios and the Senators have been actively combing the market for a top-six forward and a top-four, right-shot defenceman.
Ottawa isn’t fishing in the rental pool, though. According to TFP’s David Pagnotta, the Senators are looking to add players with term and are trying to bolster their roster for this season and the foreseeable future.
As Pagnotta noted in a post on X on Tuesday morning, the Senators are looking to replicate the type of move they made ahead of last season’s trade deadline when they acquired forward Dylan Dozens from the Buffalo Sabres.
