McMann, Laughton trying to block out trade noise — The Fourth Period
With the NHL trade deadline creeping up on Friday at 3pm ET, noise around the Toronto Maple Leafs continues to get louder and louder.
The Maple Leafs are listening on a number of their players, including forwards Max Domi, Bobby McMann, Calle Jarnkrok, Mattias Maccelli, Scott Laughton and Steven Lorentz, and reportedly all of their defencemen.
Jarnkrok, McMann and Laughton are eligible to become unrestricted free agents July 1 and the Leafs have been in talks with Laughton and McMann about extensions, but continue to field trade calls. Jarnkork is not expected to sign a new deal with Toronto, even if he is not traded this week.
Laughton has enjoyed his time in Toronto and prefers to stay, but knows he’s a candidate to be moved.

“It’s a very humbling opportunity to play here and it’s a special place,” Laughton told Sportsnet’s Anna Dua. “I’ve loved it here and I’ve loved my time and that’s all I can really control. I’m a Leaf and that’s where I want to be… we’ll see where it goes.”
