Islanders acquire Palat from Devils — The Fourth Period
The New York Islanders have acquired forward Ondrej Palat, a 2026 third-round draft pick and 2027 sixth-round pick from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forward Maxim Tsyplakov.
There is no salary retention in this trade.
Palat, 34 tallied four goals and six assists for 10 points in 51 games with the Devils this season.
Over his 14-year career, Palat has registered 181 goals and 334 assists for 515 points and has a +133 rating in 876 career games with the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Devils. He was a member of the Lightning’s two Stanley Cup championship teams in 2019-20 and 2020-21.
The Frydek-Mistek, Czechia native was a seventh-round pick of the Lightning (208th overall) in 2011. He was selected to represent Czechia at the upcoming 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina.
Tsyplakov, 27, is in his second NHL season and played in 77 games with the Islanders in 2024-25. He has recorded 37 career points (11 goals, 26 assists) and 45 penalty minutes in 104 career regular-season games.
