Rangers eyeing Sherwood from Vancouver — The Fourth Period

Share

The New York Rangers are one of the teams in the hunt for Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood, according to Vincent Mercogliano of The Athletic.

Sherwood, 30, is in the final year of a two-year, $3 million contract and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

The Canucks have been actively shopping Sherwood and as TFP’s David Pagnotta recently reported, the belief is Vancouver is trying to make a move sooner rather than later, with the potential of a move coming at some point this month.

The Rangers join the Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars, Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild and Detroit Red Wings as potential suitors for Sherwood.

As Mercogliano reported, the price tag for Sherwood is believed to be a first-round draft pick and another asset, echoing what Pagnotta reported last month.
